LaserCutting:
Thanks to the advancement personal printers laser cutting is becoming a new field for artists to explore. The work shown combines both stock photos and personal hand drawn work along with personal photography. Adobe Illustrators' vector capabilities was used to create templates for a laser to cut and etch into various materials.

Of the two such pieces shown, one is a tiered art display made from plywood utilizing both stock photos and personal hand drawn art and the other is a flat 3D airplane model utilizing Adobe Illustrators' tracing mode and made from task board (high end card board) then glued together.

Photoshop:
Abode Photoshop is a wonderful tool for photo illustrations. Many people look at Photoshop as that tool used to make models more attractive but it is so much more than that. Thanks to the cross compatibility with Adobe products strong knowledge of Photoshop can help with Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.

The displayed image here uses eight separate stock images utilizing layers masks, clipping paths, layer effects, and more to acquire the desired result. Various tools such as the cloning tool, saturation tool, pen tool, type tool, etc. were used for fine detail work.

Pen & Ink:
Traditional illustration is another skill that benefits the graphic designer. Most illustration requires a diligent plan to see through to the end and is very unforgiving in mistakes. Quick sketches are often the start to get an idea rolling.

Here is another use of stock photography to achieve an illustrative look. In the displayed work several stock photos combined with custom photography was assembled in Photoshop, then printed and traced for an outline. The finished work is made with pen and ink on illustration board over a light graphite trace.
